Being able to converse in Spanish when you travel to Spain will make your trip far more memorable and rewarding. It will give you the confidence to venture off the well-trodden tourist trails to explore a more authentic Spain where English is not always spoken. Sitting in a bar and sipping your café con leche or a cool cerveza, you will feel you have truly arrived.
Or, if you own a holiday or retirement home in Spain, you will find life much easier and more enjoyable if you can speak the language. You will be able to communicate with local people and deal with any medical or property issues.
Your tutor knows only too well, from first-hand experience of living in Spain, how tricky it can be when you need to call a plumber or speak with your bank. And how great it is to be able to hold a conversation in the local bar or pass the time of day with neighbours and shopkeepers in your barrio.
